Nike Brings Back the Air Max 1 ’86 with a Fresh Golf Twist

Nike has smoothly incorporated its 1980s retro models into the golf scene. Classics like the Air Max 1 and Air Jordan 1, originally designed for sports, now bring a familiar and stylish edge to the golf course, once known for its more traditional vibe.

The next retro model making a mark on the green is the Air Max 1 ’86. This updated version of the iconic running shoe—famous for debuting visible Air Max cushioning—stays true to Tinker Hatfield’s original design, offering the most authentic rendition yet.

Despite this closer historical accuracy, fans of the Air Max 1 have been hesitant to embrace the new model, holding onto the nostalgia of the original design. Nonetheless, the latest “Chlorophyll” colorway of the Air Max 1 ’86 Golf is set to launch on Nike.com and at Nike Golf retailers in Spring 2025 for $150.
