A new apparel capsule marks the revival of their 2018 collaboration

Nike and Carhartt WIP are back together once again. When the two first collaborated in 2018, the partnership between the world’s leading sportswear brand and the renowned workwear label took everyone by surprise. Rather than reworking sneakers like before, the duo has now shifted focus to a curated apparel capsule unveiled at Nike’s SURPLUS Sydney event this weekend.

The highlight of the collection is a reimagined version of Carhartt WIP’s original Active Jacket, featuring a burnished and worn-in canvas finish paired with a Nike SURPLUS swoosh on the back. The lineup also includes a hooded sweatshirt and graphic tee adorned with a bright lime green Swoosh and Carhartt’s signature workwear pocket design.

While the drop appears to be exclusive to Sydney’s SURPLUS attendees, speculation is growing that this capsule may hint at a larger revival of the beloved collaboration. Over recent years, Carhartt WIP has continuously expanded its streetwear collaborations, teaming up with Japanese labels like Sacai and Junya Watanabe, and releasing exclusive collections in Japan.

Considering Carhartt WIP’s 2024 collaboration with Converse—another Nike-owned brand—fans believe this could signal a new chapter for the Nike x Carhartt partnership. The previous 2018 release featured the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95, both dressed in vintage camo leather and hi-vis orange details. Given today’s utilitarian design trends, a future footwear release could push these elements even further.
