From Bootleg Rizla Merch to Official Collaboration: The Rise of PLACES+FACES (Exclusive)

Photo : PLACES+FACES

PLACES+FACES doesn’t often do collaborations, being selective about the narrative behind each collection. Co-founder Ciesay emphasizes the importance of storytelling in their partnerships. Their latest collaboration is with the French rolling paper company Rizla, featuring Leicester-born rapper Ys Sainte, Swedish DJ Denaas, Rinse FM radio host and DJ Kim Turnbull, and rapper Kasien. The collection includes PLACES+FACES merch and PUMA’s Speedcat sneakers, a favorite of Ciesay’s.

PLACES+FACES began as a photography project and has since expanded into various areas, including an EP, global parties, and a film club. They used to make bootleg Rizla merch, flipping the plus sign logo for their own. Now, they've officially teamed up with Rizla, a brand with a long heritage. Ciesay and Soulz, the other co-founder, reflect on their journey from humble beginnings to becoming a multi-faceted lifestyle brand. They emphasize the importance of evolving creatively while staying true to their interests in photography, music, events, and fashion.

As PLACES+FACES celebrates its tenth anniversary, they look back on their growth and the evolution of the UK fashion and streetwear scene. They aim to continue building on experiences and experimenting with new ideas, possibly bringing back their magazine and exploring untapped countries.
