Mostly I'm a huge fan of Sam's Club, but one area where they really fail is shipping to my home. First, here are the great things about Sam's Club: the Scan & Go feature of their mobile app at the gas pump and in the store is amazing! It's so convenient, easy, and I love avoiding the checkout lines. The Scan & Go feature is accurate and works every time I'm in any Sam's Club warehouse. This feature alone is one of the reasons I prefer Sam's Club over Costco. Second, the online shopping as a Plus member is fantastic! I show up at the appointed time and it's never more than 10 minutes before a cart with all the stuff I ordered is coming out to me. The sales associate helps load stuff into my car. The process is so freaking easy and I don't even have to waste my time in the club going through all the aisles to get my stuff. They do that for me and the pickup is so convenient. Now for the down side on shipping. Sam's Club uses a parcel courier called OnTrac. OnTrac sucks because they have no idea when they are going to deliver anything. I always find out they delivered my stuff AFTER it is delivered and I live in an ungated apartment complex. It's like OnTrace and Sam's Club have no idea that porch thieves are prevalent in many communities and will happily steal packages from people's front doors. Additionally, the Sam's Club website has links to OnTrac for my expected deliveries, but the links never work. They do get me to the OnTrac website with a message that my package cannot be found. I have to manually copy the tracking number from the Sam's Club website to the OnTrac website to search for the package to see where it is in shipping. Finally, OnTrac leaves the package unsecured at my front door, but it takes Sam's Club another two to three hours to send me a text message notification that the package has been delivered. If it's not for my diligent and careful monitoring of the arrival of my packages at my front door, there's a good chance porch pirates could get my packages before I can. As a courier service, OnTrac is the bottom of the barrel along with FedEx and Amazon Logistics. None of them have any clue what parcel lockers are, how to use parcel lockers, or how to securely deliver anything. I do not recommend use Sam's Club shipping because it is so horrible in terms of quality for the secure delivery of packages, but I do highly recommend Plus membership for the pickup service, use of the Scan & Go feature in the mobile app, and early access to shopping in clubs.
