The originality of the Geranium Odorata fragrance comes from the combination of the flower with woods. In the composition of this fragrance, two varieties of geranium have been used: bourbon geranium, from plantations on Reunion Island, and African geranium, from Egypt. Geranium essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and stems before flowering. For bourbon geranium, the yield in essence is 1 kg per 600 kg of raw material: about 30 kg of essence per hectare per year are produced.
